Section Awards

The annual section awards are designed to recognise the contribution, engagement and participation of members over the course of a year.

This initiative started in Scotland and Northern Ireland and has achieved great success. We are now excited to introduce this to Central England.

One award will be given to a member in each section in Central England based upon the criteria noted below.

Selection criteria

  • Must have been a member of the association for a continuous two-year period prior to their nomination
  • Must not have been a recipient of the award within a 10-year period from the date of their nomination (per section)
  • The nominee must have participated at section/region level in some respect as detailed below during the preceding two years:
    • Attended the annual conference
    • Attended a regional Learning & Development day
    • Attended a section Learning & Development event
    • Attended a section golf event
    • Participated on a section operations group
    • Participated at regional level (board or working group)

Selection process

Section Operational Groups hold the responsibility for determining the recipient of the award with guidance from the MSM. The MSM will use records on the CRM and other software (Eventbrite) to advise the SOGs of attendance by members over the qualifying period, which runs from 1 October through to 30 September each year.

Board members will contact the selected recipient to advise them of the award with the MSM following up to confirm arrangements for the awards at the BIGGA Conference, held in the region every November.

The award

Recipients of the Section Award receive the following:

  • An invitation to the annual BIGGA Conference where the awards will be received and a personalised trophy to commemorate the award.
  • Section winners will be asked to attend the BIGGA Celebration at BTME on the opening evening of BTME courtesy of the region.
  • A funding package of £250 (inclusive of VAT) toward Continue to Learn workshops.
