About Hollinwell

Hollinwell gained international recognition in 1970 when it hosted the John Player Classic and attracted some of the top professional golfers of the time. The club has hosted many other top professional and amateur events, including:

  • The European Tour’s 1982 Tournament Players Championship, sponsored by Haig Whisky, which Nick Faldo won.
  • The Brabazon Trophy 6 times, more than any other English club.
  • The R&A Boys Amateur Championship in 2012, won by Matthew Fitzpatrick.
  • Final Qualifying for the Open Championship from 2017 to 2022.
The Golf Course

Spanning 400 acres of free-draining sandstone, our true heathland course offers year-round playability. Designed by Willie Park Junior in 1901, it masterfully incorporates the natural contours of the Kirkby Forest valley, presenting a unique challenge for golfers of all levels.
