Get Golfing CIO, one of the UK’s fastest-growing golf and hospitality operators, is looking for a Deputy Course Manager at Sherfield Oaks Golf Club.

Located just off the M3 the 500 acre, 36 hole golf site is an enjoyable test for golfers of all abilities. Both courses The Wellington and The Waterloo benefit from USGA specification greens, tees and approaches.

Following great investment the site has benefited from a clubhouse refurbishment as well as a full bunker redevelopment of the Wellington course. Refurbishment of the Waterloo bunkers is currently underway and due to be completed by the end of the year. In addition the greens team have benefited from new machinery and a new maintenance facility is scheduled for 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to lead the team through the completion of inhouse projects and raise the performance of the site as a whole. The Deputy Course Manager position is an integral part of the club’s management structure and forms a very strong link between senior management and the greenkeeping team. The successful candidate should have a flexible approach, be self-motivated, a natural leader of people, able to teach, train and guide members of the team with empathy, humility and patience.

Candidates must have good greenkeeping skills, agronomic knowledge and a reasonable understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH and other legislative matters.

For candidates to be considered they must meet all the following criteria :

  • Educated to a minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • At least 8 years greenkeeping experience
  • PA1, 2 & 6a Spraying certificates 
  • Experience with irrigation maintenance, repair and use
  • Knowledge of machinery maintenance
  • Chainsaw certificate
  • Excellent communication skills & IT literacy
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as senior/first assistant or deputy
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff, along with and in the absence of the Course Manager

 Salary: £30,000 per annum
