Ladybank Golf Club based in Fife, Scotland are looking for a Deputy Course Manager. Founded in 1879 and designed by Tom Morris, the course has held Open Championship final qualifying on 7 occasions between 1978 and 2010 and Senior Open final qualifying in 2018 and 2022. It is widely regarded as one of the finest heathland golf courses in Scotland.
 
The Club have made considerable investments in recent years including a full bunker renovation, commitment to a machinery replacement programme and a new irrigation system which is due for completion in Spring 2025. 
 
The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, professional and work as part of our fantastic greenkeeping team, to ensure the golf course is maintained and presented to a high standard.
 
The role has become available due to the success of our previous Deputy being promoted to the role of Course Manager.
 
 
The ideal candidate will preferably have:
  • 5 years’ experience and minimum NVQ level 3 in sports turf management (or equivalent)
  • Spraying certificates PA1, PA2 and PA6
  • CS30/31 chainsaw certificates
  • A high level of attention to detail and presentation
The below attributes would be an advantage:
  • 3 + years’ experience in a senior role
  • Team management skills
  • Good understanding of Irrigation systems
  • Construction and drainage experience
  • Heathland experience
  • Possesses a positive ‘can-do’ attitude
  • IT skills in creating spreadsheets and reports
  • A sound understanding of the game of golf
Duties will include:
  • Fully deputising for the Course Manager in his absence
  • Distributing and overseeing tasks to the greenkeeping team under the direction of the Course Manager
  • Assisting with the maintenance of equipment and machinery, carry out minor repairs and routine maintenance as appropriate.
  • Ensuring the golf course is maintained to high standards
  • Mentoring and coaching staff
  • Supporting the Course Manager in projects and course goals
  • Assisting in the maintenance of records,
  • Performing tasks with minimum of supervision

The position is 37.5 hours per week with weekend work required on a rota basis. 

Basic salary range £34k - £38k commensurate with experience.
