GOLF COURSE MACHINERY MECHANIC/ENGINEER - ANOTHER PLACE, THE MACHERIE
Principle Purpose:
A Mechanic in a hotel setting is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the smooth operation of all mechanical equipment and systems used in golf course and selected hotel vehicles. This role is crucial in providing staff and guests with a comfortable, safe and compliant environment.
Reports to: Head Mechanic/Asset Manager and/or Golf Course Manager
General Duties:

Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and repair on all golf course equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, company-owned assets, and small engines. Ensure all equipment meets current legislation

Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical issues with equipment and carry out repairs promptly and cost-effectively

Preventative Maintenance: Develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule in digital format to reduce equipment downtime and to maintain the value of the assets

Inventory Management: Maintain a digital inventory of parts and supplies needed for equipment maintenance and repair

Record Keeping: Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repairs performed on equipment in digital format on a specified company system/location

Identify potential defects and worn components

Servicing: Complete all summer and winter servicing in a timely manner under the instruction of the Head Mechanic/Asset Manager/Course Manager

keep abreast of modern advances in materials, methods, and machinery in greenkeeping with suppliers and related trades

Adhere to daily machinery changes/requirements as instructed by management
-
Inspect equipment performance on the course daily and make necessary adjustments
Job skills and requirements:
-
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in turf machinery or as a mechanic, preferably in a golf course setting

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in turf maintenance or a related field is a plus

Technical Skills: Proficiency in mechanical repair and maintenance of golf course equipment. Knowledge of irrigation systems and turf practices

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks

Driver’s license

You must at times wear the protective clothing and footwear provided to carry out certain jobs. You must not handle any chemical or machine which requires the appropriate certificates until you have acquired them

Certified to use grinding equipment

A keen eye for detail/high standards of presentation

Understanding of Microsoft packages. Word, excel

Knowledge of turfkeeper software

Communicate with your colleagues and other departments respectfully providing clear and concise advice/information to ensure a smooth guest experience throughout the hotel

Communicate in a non-judgmental, detrimental manner towards colleagues and management

Follow the correct procedure for reporting important requirements for the safe operation of the workshop to colleagues and other departments

Follow all job instructions (within the work scope) from the Head Mechanic/Asset Manager/Course Manager to the highest of professional standards in a safe and compliant manner
