North Hants is a par 70, private members heathland golf club based in Fleet, Hampshire. A progressive club, Open Qualifying venue, with an ambition to produce the best golfing experience possible.
Job Description
Reporting to: The Golf Course Manager, Deputy Golf Course Manager and First Assistant Greenkeeper.
Liaison with: Heads of Department, Greenkeeping Team.
Scope of the Role: Reporting to the Golf Course Manager, Deputy and First Assistant, the Senior Greenkeeper assists in all aspects of course maintenance, ensuring that the grounds are in excellent condition for play. This role requires technical knowledge of turf management, turf applications/products, spray equipment operation, and leadership skills to support the First Assistant and Deputy Course Manager in managing the greenkeeping team effectively daily.
Measures for the role:

Supporting the Course Manager, Deputy and First Assistant by successfully leading the team from the front in day-to-day course set up and presentation and dealing with any operational challenges

Monitor Turf conditions on the golf course and report back

Fulfilling instructions, while also supervising staff and teams

Accurate spray applications, records and ordering

Chemical area and equipment condition. With knowledge on COSHH Risk Assessments

To maintain and develop North Hants Golf Club’s reputation, golfing experience and the long-term success of the course
Responsible For:
-
Deputising in the absence of the Deputy Course Manager or First Assistant and assisting with the daily running, organisation, planning and daily management of the course and department

Standards produced on the golf course. Including individual levels of standard from the team

Provide feedback to Course Manager on staff performance and issues
-
Ensure all playing surfaces meet the requirements set out by golf course manager
-
Motivating department to ensure a positive working environment
-
Lead and supervise small teams or small projects around the site

Training junior members of the team, ensuring standards are not only set, but met
-
Assisting with the responsibility for all golf course set up and presentation on a day to day basis

Ensure all work is carried out following health and safety guidelines and regulations. Following all health and safety protocols when handling irrigation equipment, including working with electrical components and water systems

Developing knowledge and skills set to fulfil duties, identified as potential improvement areas

Management and leading of weekend team

Ensuring water balance sheet is correctly filled in and irrigation cycles where required

Management of chemical area in compound
-
Reporting of stock required and low stock items. Working towards ordering product and own PO system

Inputting deliveries onto turfkeeper
-
Responsible, for cleanliness, accuracy and condition of sprayer and power unit

Must have current PA1, PA2 and PA6 qualifications. With refresher training every 5 years

Stay up to date with relevant industry articles, best practice and latest developments that may add benefit to the job role, golf course or department
Person Specification

Job Details

Salary will be £32,000 - £37,000 depending on qualifications, experience and ability
-
Weekends are on a 1 in 3 rota with additional weekend work required due to competition and maintenance calendar. Paid overtime June, July and August, with time of in lieu for the rest of the year

Lunches are provided
-
Hours of work are 5am – 1pm all year round. 5am – 9am on weekends
-
Flexibility and additional hours will be expected during maintenance windows and competition prep
