Reporting to: Golf Course Manager
Overall Objective
The Skilled Greenkeeper is responsible for carrying out a variety of tasks to maintain the golf course at the King Power Performance Centre to the highest possible standards. This role involves performing specialized turf care and maintenance activities, operating machinery, and ensuring that all areas of the course are in excellent condition for golfers. The Skilled Greenkeeper plays a key role in the day-to-day operations and supports the Head and Deputy Head Greenkeepers in delivering a top-quality playing environment.
Main Objectives
Course Maintenance and Care:

Perform routine and specialized maintenance tasks on the golf course, including mowing, aeration, scarification, topdressing, and overseeding

Maintain greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers to the highest standards, ensuring a consistent and professional playing surface

Apply fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides safely and effectively, following established protocols and safety guidelines

Assist in the implementation of irrigation schedules and manage watering needs to maintain turf health
Machinery Operation and Maintenance:

Operate a variety of greenkeeping machinery and equipment, including mowers, tractors, aerators, and sprayers, with precision and care

Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment to ensure it is in good working condition

Ensure that all tools and machinery are cleaned, maintained, and stored properly after use
Health and Safety Compliance:

Adhere to all health and safety regulations and procedures during maintenance activities

Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and ensure compliance with safety protocols

Report any health and safety incidents, hazards, or concerns to the Head or Deputy Head Greenkeeper
Support and Teamwork:

Collaborate with other members of the greenkeeping team to complete tasks efficiently and effectively

Assist in setting up the course for daily play and special events, including the placement of markers, pins, and tee boxes

Provide guidance and support to junior or less experienced team members as needed
Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated on industry best practices, new techniques, and advancements in turf management

Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge

Contribute ideas and suggestions for improving course maintenance processes and overall quality
Personal Specification
Education:
-
A diploma or certification in Sports Turf Management, Horticulture, or a related field is preferred
Experience:
-
A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in greenkeeping or sports turf management, ideally within a golf course or professional sports environment
Skills:
-
Strong knowledge of golf course maintenance practices, including turf care, pest management, and irrigation

Proficiency in operating and maintaining a range of greenkeeping machinery and equipment
-
Attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of course quality

Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team

Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work in various weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks

Working Conditions:

This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions

Physical fitness is necessary due to the manual labor involved, including lifting, digging, and operating equipment
Desirable:

A full clean driving license
