BIGGA congratulates GMA following spectacular SALTEX return
BIGGA has extended its congratulations to the Grounds Management Association (GMA) after the organisation hosted the 76th edition of SALTEX earlier this week.
In the build-up to the annual groundskeeping extravaganza, BIGGA, the GMA and Agricultural Engineers Association issued a statement pledging closer collaboration for the benefit of all members and the wider industry.
And this was backed up during the event, with BIGGA CEO Jim Croxton participating in a panel discussion alongside GMA CEO Geoff Webb and BIGGA Chairperson Steve Lloyd to discuss research findings that are powering workforce development plans across the wider industry.
BIGGA CEO Jim Croxton said: "My congratulations go to the entire GMA team for hosting a fantastic couple of days at SALTEX. This was the first 'fully open' show post-COVID and it was clear there remains a tremendous appetite from everyone associated with the industry to get together and share stories and new products. SALTEX has an outstanding heritage and has once again kicked off the exhibition season in style. I look forward to BTME in Harrogate, when we can continue the conversations that began this week and begin many more!"
Elsewhere around the show halls at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, exhibitors displayed all-electric tractors, robotics, sustainable technology and countless other innovations.
GMA CEO Geoff Webb said: "The continued participation, be that as a speaker, exhibitor or a visitor, creates a buzz that is unrivalled in our industry. Whether through networking, checking out the latest equipment and products, catching up with friends or learning from the experts, SALTEX has it all under one roof and yet again we have delivered."
The theme for this year's SALTEX was sustainability and that was evident across the whole event. An increased number of grounds personnel, greenkeepers, landscapers and contractors were looking for products that deliver quality results but also reduce carbon footprints to the environment. SALTEX delivered with the latest innovations and products, daily demonstrations of cutting-edge sustainable technology and advice on how green technology could benefit current working practices.
The attention of the groundskeeping industry now turns towards the BIGGA Turf Management Exhibition (BTME), which takes place at the Harrogate Convention Centre in January 2023 and is accompanied by the world-renowned Continue to Learn education programme. Head to www.btme.org.uk to find out more.
