Statement regarding new nationwide lockdown (31 October)
The UK Government has this evening (31 October) announced a one-month lockdown of England, starting at midnight on Thursday 5 November and running until 2 December.
These new measures will see the closure of pubs, restaurants, non-essential retail. People can continue to exercise for unlimited periods outdoors, either with people from their own households or on a one-to-one basis with one person from other household.
BIGGA is working with the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Golf to study the detail, and to establish the exact restrictions on golf clubs and their facilities as the information becomes available. We will communicate definitive guidance once received from Government. However, it is understood that golf clubs will be closed under these enhanced restrictions.
BIGGA's dedicated COVID-19 hub on our website provides a wealth of information relating to the coronavirus pandemic, including safe working practices and ideas to protect your greenkeeping team this winter. You can also find information relating to the support we provide members, including the 'available for work' scheme, HR helpline, confidential counselling and other member benefits.
If you require further help or advice, please contact BIGGA's team of staff who will be able to help. Email [email protected] to get in touch or contact your regional representative.
The PGA has also provided a COVID-19 Resource Hub where you can find more information.
